Slow Research Academy › Uber › Unit 1 “How the Business Works”, lesson 2
Of every $100 of Gross Bookings, $75 to $81 never becomes Uber's revenue
This unit asks: How much does Uber keep from each order, and what makes profit grow?
In Q2 2026, Mobility kept $7.6 of segment profit per $100 of Gross Bookings and Delivery $3.8. More than half of Mobility's revenue goes to insurance, payments and technology, and after corporate overhead about $3.7 is left company-wide.
A $30 food order has a bill with the food, a delivery fee, a service fee and tax.
Out of that $30, the restaurant takes the cost of the food, the courier gets paid for the trip, and the taxes go to the government.
How much Uber keeps only becomes clear after subtracting layer by layer.
Mobility per $100: $74.6 to drivers and taxes, $25.4 of revenue, $7.6 left at the end
Using Q2 2026 segment figures (the numbers Uber reports separately for Mobility, Delivery and Freight), take $100 of Mobility Gross Bookings and subtract layer by layer.
