This unit asks: What key decisions has this team made, and where has the money gone?
After selling ATG, Uber retained equity and commercial cooperation. In 2026 it disclosed an expected commitment of over $10 billion over the coming years for autonomous-driving deployment; spending and operating outcomes need separate tracking.
In December 2020, Uber announced ATG’s sale to Aurora, receiving shares and investing another $400 million. The deal closed in January 2021. Equity and commercial cooperation continued after the research unit’s sale. By Q2 2026, Uber disclosed a multi-year capital plan supporting autonomous-driving commercialization.
