Why Mobility and Delivery sit together: shared accounts, maps, payments and membership

Uber · Company course · Unit 2 “Breaking Down the Business”, lesson 3 · About 10 minutes · Data as of 2026-09-12 · Free unit (registration required)

This unit asks: How do Mobility, Delivery and Freight each make money?

Mobility and Delivery share accounts, maps, dispatch, payments and membership, so corporate overhead is spread over both lines' bookings. Freight does not use this layer and has always been run by a separate subsidiary.

The Uber One membership page lists two kinds of benefits: free delivery on food orders and cash back on rides.

One membership fee covers both the Mobility and Delivery businesses.

Freight is not on this membership card; it uses a different app.

Mobility and Delivery share one layer: accounts, maps, dispatch, payments and membership

The two business lines at the top of the diagram look separate. One connects riders and sends drivers; the other connects eaters and sends merchants and couriers.

This is the beginning of the lesson. The full lesson has 4 cards, key takeaways and a quiz. Register to study it free.
